Session to explore the latest in how DAS, Small Cells and Wi-Fi support today’s smartphone-driven and bandwidth-intensive wireless market
June 19, 2012 Roseburg, OR - SOLiD’s President, Seth Buechley, is moderating the panel “DAS, Small Cells and Wi-Fi Kick Capacity Up a Notch” at the AGL Regional Conference in Overland Park, KS on June 22nd. The session will define the challenges wireless operators, building owners and other stakeholders face to provide reliable coverage and capacity for smartphone users inside large buildings and at sporting events, entertainment venues, college campuses, malls and virtually anywhere else people congregate. The panel will explore how Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), Small Cells and Wi-Fi are being used to increase network capacity and ensure higher data speeds. Additionally, the presenters will discuss the roles these wireless technologies will play in creating heterogeneous networks as well as identify key trends and considerations that impact their deployment.
Two fundamental changes are afoot within the wireless industry which makes this session both timely and highly relevant. First, smartphones have ignited an insatiable demand for bandwidth, causing Wireless Service Providers to now approach the wireless network in terms of data capacity instead of coverage. In addition, wireless operators are increasingly using an “inside-out” approach to reach wireless users rather than relying upon the strength of the signal from nearby towers and transmitters. DAS, Small Cells and Wi-Fi are key technologies supporting this evolution of wireless networks.
“Wireless Service Providers need a toolkit of cost-effective and scalable solutions that can be quickly deployed to deliver capacity and coverage when and where the wireless users are,” said Seth Buechley, President of SOLiD. “Having launched a portfolio of DAS
solutions expressly for today’s smartphone and bandwidth-intensive market, SOLiD possesses a strong understanding of the problems and how to solve them. As a longtime reader and contributor to AGL’s DAS Bulletin and Backhaul Bulletin publications
, I’m thrilled to be moderating the panel and look forward to an informative and lively discussion.”
